London institution fabric is revamping its FABRICLIVE brand with a new label.
Launching as part of the London club’s 25th anniversary celebrations, the FABRICLIVE label will live in the fabric Records family, which also includes fabric Originals, Houndstooth and the fabric presents mix series. Like its regular club night and beloved compilation mix series, which ended in 2018 with a final entry by Burial and Kode9, the imprint will focus on celebrating emerging and established artists in UK dance music genres influenced by sound system culture.
“FABRICLIVE has always been at the core of what makes fabric unique,” said FABRICLIVE booker Grace Flynn. “This isn’t about a relaunch, as FABRICLIVE has always been here, but a refocus—a way to reflect on 25 years of FABRICLIVE and look forward to what’s next with the sounds of the UK always at the heart of what we do. With the record label, we’re giving the FABRICLIVE ethos a new platform to grow and evolve, connecting even more personally with fans.”
In addition to records, the next era of FABRICLIVE will feature video content that highlight’s UK street style and London’s soundscapes. The first video story will feature Flowdan — check out a preview clip below.
As part of fabric’s continuing 25th birthday celebrations, the Farringdon club published a book with Joe Muggs, released limited-run photography project with Mark Vessey on the FABRICLIVE mix series, and tapped Laurent Garnier to handle the anniversary edition of fabric presents. The venue also upgraded the Room 1 soundsystem with Martin Audio.
