Waves has introduced a new vocal alignment plug-in called Sync VX.
The plug enables users to automatically align multiple vocal takes to simplify syncing double tracks and harmonies. It also offers pitch shifting, making it easy to sync the pitch of multiple vocal takes at once. Sync VX works by assigning a reference track to your lead vocal, or any vocal you want the others to snap to, then aligning them using its Click to Sync button. This gives you a more unified sound and bypasses any phase issues between vocals.
You can also set the extremity of the sync — which reduces how much the audio ‘snaps’ — for a more human sound. A global Time knob allows you to control all vocal takes at once, while each channel also has a Time control for individual nudging. If you have multiple backing vocals and harmonies, you can assign up to four different reference tracks, and sync those together separately to the lead vocal. This allows for snapping between backing vocals, and others, without being affected by the lead line.
Sync VX also applies a similar concept to your vocal’s pitch, ensuring all takes are in key and snapped to the nearest note. You can also dictate how much each take is being pitch-corrected, and there’s a global control for auto-tuning. Under the hood, there are transpose and formant features for creative pitch manipulation.
Sync VX costs $199 but is available for $129 during its current, introductory period. It’s also part of Waves’ Creative Access subscription for $14.99 per month.
