Now here’s a thing: Timothée Chalamet has now performed Bob Dylan songs on Saturday Night Live the same amount of times as Bob Dylan actually has. Confused? Well, each have made one appearance (as Bob Dylan) on the show.
Yep, Timothée Chalamet toasted his role in A Complete Unknown by hosting the American comedy institution over the weekend, and even threw in some musical performances into the bargain.

The actor’s Dylan impression is gaining numerous critical plaudits, and he performed ‘Tomorrow Is A Long Time’ and a medley of ‘Outlaw Blues’ together with ‘Three Angels’ on the show.
Sadly he wasn’t in costume – we can’t have everything, after all – but it’s a punchy run through two of Bob’s lesser-heralded numbers.

As it turns out, Bob Dylan has only ever made one appearance on Saturday Night Live. The songwriter was the musical guest on October 20th, 1979, in an episode hosted by English comedian and Monty Python legend Eric Idle.
The iconic artist played three songs – ‘Gotta Serve Somebody’, ‘I Believe In You’ and ‘When You Gonna Wake Up?’ – from his then-controversial album ‘Slow Train Coming’. Gospel-soaked exhibitions of Christian faith, the performance marked the live debuts of these songs, which then functioned as the opening segments of his subsequent tour.
Check out the performance below.
