Chaos In The CBD have announced their debut album, ‘A Deeper Life’.
Set for release on the New Zealand duo’s own In Dust We Trust imprint on Friday, 9th May, the 14-track record fuses elements of jazz, R&B and ambient music with the various forms of house the duo have become known for in their productions and DJ sets. It takes in live instrumentation and vocal contributions from the likes of Novelist, Lee Pearson Jr. and Stephanie Cooke. Josh Milan of legendary US house trio Blaze also appears on the record.
“The title refers to our childhood, which was idyllic,” said one-half of Chaos In The CBD, Ben Helliker-Hales. “It was just the sun, the sand, the sea, waterfalls, birds and fish.”
He added that the record was “laid-back but still driving at the same time; it’s club-ready, but still deep”.
To mark the announcement of ‘A Deeper Life’, the duo have shared lead single ‘Love Language’, which features fellow New Zealander Nathan Haines on saxophone. You can listen to the song below.
“‘Love Language’ is a track that suits almost any setting, evoking the laid-back, easygoing rhythm of life in New Zealand,” Chaos In The CBD said in a statement. “Perfect for a road trip to the beach or those magical moments at an after party when the sun reappears. ‘Love Language’ feels like a reflection of the journey that brought it to life and we hope you enjoy it as much as we do.”
To mark the album’s release, the duo will play two headline shows in London and Manchester this May. Find more information below.
