Hartlepool risers MARKETPLACE return with sprightly new single ‘Ode To Monty’.

The emerging indie-pop force blend guitar heft with a dazzling array of melodies, conjuring pristine pop visions in the process. A flurry of ace gigs have paved the way, with MARKETPLACE recently entering the studio with producer Chad Rodgers (Benjamin Francis Leftwich, Cape Cub).

New single ‘Ode To Monty’ is the result. A sprightly dose of pop-indebted indie, the warming feel is enhanced by the band’s bouncy performance, packed with energy and vitality.

Tapping into the essence of their live sound, ‘Ode To Monty’ is wonderfully pieced together, a superb dose of melodic songwriting – oh, and the ‘Monty’ of the title is… gardener and broadcaster Monty Don!

Speaking about the single, vocalist Evie explains…

“We wanted to write a real earnest love song, which is something we’ve never really tackled before due to a habit of not really taking ourselves too seriously. More often than not, that comes across in lyrics too, tackling subjects with a more tongue in cheek approach. So Ross (drummer) said, “Can you make it about celebrity gardener Monty Don from Gardeners’ World?” so he became the object of my affections for the lyrics of the song.”
