Air Texture has announced the next five instalments in its ‘Place’ compilation series, which highlights the local electronic music talent across different cities and countries.
Following previous editions spotlighting music coming out of Chile, Tunisia, Georgia, Kenya, Colombia and other countries, the next five compilations will cover Egypt, Toronto, Morocco, Ireland and Switzerland.
The first focuses on Egypt and is curated by ZULI, whose album ‘Lambda’ was one of DJ Mag’s favourites of 2024. It’s due out on Friday, 28th March and features tracks by Hassan Abou Alam, El Kontessa, Qow and ZULI, among others. You can listen to lead cut ‘Roll Offa Me (asap) [ys riddim og ’21]’, by Azzouni, below.
The Toronto compilation is curated by Ciel and is due out on Friday, 9th May. Bergsonist has pulled together the Morocco release, which is out in June, while Ireland’s collection is pieced together by Efa O’Neill and set for release in July.
The final instalment in this run of compilations, focusing on Switzerland, is out in August and curated by NVST and Nicola Kazimir.
In 2023, Azu Tiwaline and Shinigami San co-curated Air Texture’s compilation on Tunisian electronic music.
Last year, Air Texture released a compilation spotlight femme and non-binary artists working within electronic music, featuring music by Introspekt, Bored Lord and more.
