This month Alighieri are putting a worthy cause at the forefront of their holiday plans. In partnership with The British Pregnancy Advisory Service, an independent healthcare charity that has been advocating for abortion care for over half a century, Alighieri has curated a special gift guide titled ‘Offerings of Love’.
As the UK’s largest abortion provider, the BPAS is an indispensable resource that caters to more than 100,000 people annually. Commissioned by the NHS to provide abortion care throughout the UK, BPAS has been put under tremendous pressure in recent years as increasingly well-funded anti-abortion groups (often funded by anonymous US donors) have become more prominent. Two years ago, Alighieri founder Rosh Mahtani found herself under the care of the BPAS and has since become an outspoken advocate for the organisation. This December, Alighieri will donate 10% of all its profits from online sales to BPAS. “After going through a really traumatic abortion in 2022, I’m deeply grateful for the team at BPAS, for the work they do to help women through what can be a very difficult time.” Mahtani reflects.
Mahtani’s experience is not unique, and this partnership comes at a pivotal moment for abortion and women’s rights around the globe, and as our own NHS remains under constant threat from defunding in the UK. “As women’s rights across the world continue to be under threat, it feels all the more crucial to raise awareness and proceeds for charities that support and campaign for women’s health – whilst they still remain perilously underfunded.” – Rosh Mahtani, founder of Alighieri.
Renowned for a profound dedication to storytelling and craftsmanship, Alighieri invites customers to find meaning and solace in the ‘Offerings of Love’ selection. Through unique household ornaments like the Floating Pebble Candlesticks and the Totemic Devotion Cutlery Set or bespoke jewellery like the Annotator Necklace, Alighieri offers pieces to be treasured and gives customers an opportunity to shop with purpose.
“We are absolutely thrilled to partner with Alighieri this December, as they commit to donating 10% of their online sales to support BPAS. At a time when reproductive rights face unprecedented threats, particularly in light of the deeply troubling outcomes of the US election, support from individual organisations like Alighieri is more important than ever.” – Heidi Stewart, CEO of BPAS.
