GALA has announced that Floating Points will bring his Sunflower Sound System as part of a Floating Points & Friends showcase at the 2025 festival.
South London institution, GALA, is taking over Peckham Rye Park over the late May bank holiday weekend from 23rd to 25th May as part of the festival’s 10th anniversary celebrations.
The Sunflower Sound System was designed and built by Floating Points and was put through its paces for the first time as part of the ‘Save Cosmic Slop’ party in Leeds.
Floating Points, aka Sam Shepherd, explained the reason he built the sound system was to “create a sound combining all the components and systems” he has loved playing on over the years.
Topping the bill at Peckham Rye Park will be Caribou and KiNK, each performing live, with Moodymann, Avalon Emerson, Floorplan, Ben UFO, and Hunee & Antal. Theo Parrish is also set to play an eight-hour set.
Elsewhere on the bill are Batu, Anz, Maurice Fulton, HiTech, dBridge, Bradley Zero, Pearson Sound, Jossy Mitsu, Hudson Mohawke, Coast 2 Coast, Tash LC, KG, Sweely, Mood II Swing, Calibre and many more.
Floating Points isn’t the only person to partner with GALA Festival this year. Among the other promoters and organisations listed as curators are Chapter 10, NTS, Pleasure Dome, Jumbi, Horse Meat Disco, The Cause, HVYWGHT, Rush Hour and more.
GALA festival is also hosting events all over the world for its 10th anniversary celebrations. The first stop took place in Newcastle in January, with subsequent stops taking the name to Bristol, Tokyo, Lisbon, New York, Chicago, São Paulo, Melbourne and more.
