Jensen McRae has shared plans for a new album.
The songwriter is only 27-years-old yet has already graduated from USC’s Thornton School of Music, toured with Noah Kahan, MUNA, Amos Lee, and Corinne Bailey Rae, and earned huge acclaim from music critics.
New album ‘I Don’t Know How But They Found Me!’ is out on April 25th, and it continues Jensen’s journey as a Black woman in the folk genre – a space normally reserved by white voices.
The album title is a riff on a Back To The Future quote, and it offers a playful message of resilience hewn from her own life. She comments…
“I could’ve easily collapsed beneath the weight of what happened to me, but I didn’t. I was bulletproof the whole time.”
Recorded in North Carolina with Brad Cook(Waxahatchee, Bon Iver) and featuring contributions from Nathan Stocker(Hippo Campus), Matthew McCaughan (Bon Iver), and her brother Holden McRae, you can expect 11 tracks of melodic intent and personal examination.
New song ‘Praying For Your Downfall’ is out now, with a slice of venom sitting alongside Jensen’s beautiful execution. Tune in now.
