Kelela is releasing a live album, ‘In The Blue Light’.
Due out on Tuesday 11th February via Warp Records, the 12-track release sees the US artist rework a number of cuts from her discography into new unplugged arrangements. They were performed at one-of-a-kind show at New York’s legendary jazz club The Blue Note last May.
‘Enemy’ and ‘Bank Head’, from her debut mixtape ‘Cut 4 Me’ appear in new forms, while there are also performances on the record of tracks such as ‘Take Me Apart’ and ‘Blue Light’, and a cover of Joni Mitchell’s ‘Furry Sings The Blues’.
Ahead of the album’s full release, Kelela has shared the unplugged version of ‘Better’, which originally appeared on 2017 album ‘Take Me Apart’. You can listen to it below.
Early last year, she released a remix album for her 2023 LP ‘Raven’. Revisit DJ Mag’s review of ‘Raven’ here.
