Tara Nome Doyle will release new album ‘Ekko’ on April 11th.
The songwriter has built a glittering CV, including work alongside esteemed composer Isobel Waller-Bridge, contributing Netflix’s Munich and the forthcoming drama Three Women based on the best selling book by Lisa Taddeo.
Returning to her solo guise, Tara has just confirmed plans for a new album. Out on April 11th via Fat Cat Records, ‘Ekko’ was built alongside Grammy Award winning producer Simon Goff (The Joker, Chernobyl).
Lyrically, Tara blends personal experience with a tapestry of influences, including classic myth.
“My album was inspired by the myth of Echo and Narcissus from Ovid’s Metamorphoses,” Tara says. “Echo’s story—losing her voice and sense of self as she’s cursed to repeat others’ words—felt like a powerful metaphor for my own journey. I went from creating unique songs with ease to relying heavily on external validation, twisting myself to fit others’ expectations and losing touch with who I was.”
“With this album, I wanted to strip away those layers of doubt and rediscover my true voice. It’s about reconnecting with myself and creating music that feels honest, otherworldly, and cathartic. Not mirroring what other people want to see, but what I need to show them.”
Out now, ‘Lighthouse’ is the first sign of her intentions, and it’s a truly beautiful piece of songcraft – feather-soft in its sonic palette, there’s a subtle intensity to her work.
Of the song, Tara says…
“I wrote ‘Lighthouse’ for a friend who was going through a difficult time. I saw myself in her struggles to please everyone while neglecting her own needs. This song is meant to be a warm embrace, offering reassurance and gentle encouragement. The mantra ‘those who matter won’t mind, and those who mind don’t matter’ has guided me through my lowest moments, and it felt meaningful to share it through this song. I hope it reaches someone who needs to hear it, remember it and repeat it.”
Tune in now.
