Canadian musician Tim Hecker will release new album ‘Shards’ on February 21st.
The incoming album collates some of the composer’s extra-curricular activities, bringing together music commissioned for various projects across the last half-decade.
As such, there’s a breadth and dexterity to the project, which collates projects such as Infinity Pool, The North Water, Luzifer, and La Tour.
Out on February 21st, new song ‘Sunset Key Melt’ is online now, alongside a pleasingly simple jet-ski aided visualiser.
‘Sunset Key Melt’ opens with vast swathes of noise, reminiscent of a shoegaze record, before the ambience is disrupted by spectral, Grouper-esque notes of piano.
Out now, ‘Sunset Key Melt’ is accompanied by a Bandcamp drop – listen to ‘Morning (Piano Version)’ on that platform.
‘Shards’ will be released on February 21st.
